I am humbled and honored that Amavida Resort Retirement Community hosted a Book Signing event on January 19th to promote my book, Baseball After Life.
An array of wines and cheeses, pretzels, beer and soda were provided by our host.
I must thank Mr. Scott Moore, President Quadrum Senior Living Executive Director, as well as Mr. Kris Svetliak, Associate Executive Director, and Ms. Kimberly Gioia, Lifestyle Director - for making this event possible.
The outpouring of friends and neighbors that attended this event has left me with an everlasting impression. Not only was the book signing was a success, but we were able to reach folks and provide good information and offer assistance in support of Dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
A special thank you to our guests in attendance providing information and support, Ms.Pam Maren, from The Alztimers Association, and Ms Lynne Thorpe, from the Dubin Center.
Additionally, what is a baseball story without a great baseball team?
We were privileged to have with us that day Mr. Ross Cerdas and staff from the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels Baseball team!

Additionally, I want to do my part to make people aware and recognize that dementia is a horrible and vicious disease on the human brain.
It took years for people to talk about cancer and cancer support. It was kept quiet for a long time.Dementia victims and their families are falling into the same crippling cycle of keeping it quiet and private. This will not help funding and research to combat this disease.
Thank you for your time and kindness.
Dementia is not a single disease and Alzheimer’s Disease accounts for 60 -80 %.
Here are some startling facts:
*. The annual global cost of dementia is 1.3 trillion in U.S. dollars.
*. Worldwide 55 million people are living with dementia.
*. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s.
*. More than 11 million families and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other Dementias in the United States.
*. Alzheimer’s kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
*. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
